Hi Guys/Girls,
Yesterday I bought a powder blue tang, he appeared to have been in a fight previously as he had a slightly torn fin.
When i put him in the tank last night my coral beauty attacked.. and continued to for a long long time. My blue tang got in the way and wouldn't let the angel attack... but then when the angel left the blue tang attacked my new powder blue tang.
then later on the coral and tang decided to attack together.
I... [Read More]

Hailea tank - help with setup of filter media pls |
|
Mar 06, 2010 - 11:17 PM - by Pamett

Hi,
I've bought a second-hand 60L Hailea tank for my daughter (she currently has a 20L Jebo). We need help with setting up the filter media etc. Her current Jebo has everything in the lid but this Hailea has it all in the back wall and our local petshop does not stock them so was not much help. It has the sponges but is there a particular order to where I should put the bags of activated carbon & bio-noodles?
Do we just rinse out the spongy filter media things... [Read More]

advice on "in the wall" fish tank |
|
Feb 25, 2010 - 1:38 PM - by starchild

Hi all,
We are building a new house and have the luxury of being able to incorporate a tank (tropical freshwater) within the wall that separates the office to the living area.
Ideally I want at least a 6ft tank, preferably 7ft.
Can people offer any advice on best way to do this? Ideally hiding as much equipment as possible from view. Best filtration to do this?
A carpenter on site will build the cabinet under the tank that will be placed in... [Read More]

Disposing of Aiptasia! |
|
Feb 24, 2010 - 10:05 AM - by Drew

Hi Guys,
I have 3 aiptasia's growing on this peice of live rock I have.. the rock is also covered top to bottom in zoanthids which I will miss sadly... but I can't find any peppermint shrimp and don't want to risk the aiptasia spreading to a rock that I am unable to remove from my tank.
How should I dispose of the coral/rock.. i live next to the beach but don't want to put it in the calm shallows because i worry the aiptasia might spread out there.
