Swordtail mating possibly? |
|
Jun 29, 2009 - 7:41 PM - by Welsh

I recently did some rearranging to my big tank, since then my male sword tail has been swimming backwards like he wants to spear the female and she keeps running away, is this a mating thing or there not getting along? I originally did have 2 females but lost one.

Ok I'm getting married in about 2 and a bit weeks, and I'll be moving out of home into a flat with my wife. Now I have a 70L Hailea Tank setup as community tank with:
10 Neon Tetras
2 Bristlenose Catfish
1 Silver Shark
4 Guppys (1M 3F)
4 Platys (1M 3F)
+ 2 (Guppy I believe) fry.
Now I'm moving from tank water at home to town water in the flat. So how is the best way to go about moving my tank.
Should I bag all my fish with... [Read More]

Another Online Store Good Report |

Just thought I would throw another shout out for Coral Mania (http://coralmania.com.au/). There's a few online operations setting up now selling coral and invertebrates, and some bad reports around too.
Coral Mania ship unbelievably fast, great communication and good pricing too.
Will be ordering again!

Geophagus - a new interest |
|
Jun 15, 2009 - 6:15 PM - by yarra2

Last week I purchased 2 pairs of Geophagus Steindachneri (Red Hump Eartheaters) and I suspect that one of the females already has a mouthful of eggs as her buchal cavity seems full and she's not eating but is constantly `chewing'. Anyone had experience with these?
I've also got some Geophagus SP Tapjos Red Heads on order (this week) so it will be interesting to see what happens there.
Apologies for the quality of the pics (taken yesterday).

G'day to all Cichlidians (of the African variety) and others,
I'm relatively new to African Cichlids (started in Feb.2009) I'm totally in love, I have a 6'x18"x18" tank hooked up to a 3' sump/trickle filter. From my limited knowledge of Africans, I believe I must be doing something right because I have a pair of Cynotilapia afra 'Cobue' that have just had their first fry and I also noticed this week that one of my Iodotropheus Sprengarea 'Rusty' is pregnant. My tanks parameters... [Read More]

Good Experience - Online Store |

I just wanted to put in a positive plug for www.ezipet.com.au
I'm not affiliated in any way, but I've placed three orders with them now and have been really happy with the result. Their prices are great, delivery is super fast and the service is excellent. They accept PayPal, and have a bonus scheme for frequent customers.
Very happy that I found them.
Cheers,
Walker

I'm wondering whether anyone has some actual practical experience in breeding and raising these lovely looking things. Their proper name is Acarichthys Heckelii. I have the opportunity to buy some locally ($$) and I'd like to give them a go.... I like a challenge
Researching them on the Net indicates that they could be very difficult - but then... [Read More]

Sydney Aquarium shops, Recommendations |
|
May 21, 2009 - 11:29 PM - by TropicalC

Hi guys,
My first posting here. Looking forward to learning and contributing where I can.
I'm a former tropical freshwater aquarium enthusiast from Melbourne and have recently moved to Sydney where I'm looking forward to continuing my hobby.
In Melbourne, I got to know a couple of excellent Aquarium shops (Boronia Aquarium and Coburg Aquarium) where I bought most of my equipment and stock.
I'm really new to Sydney and have no idea where's the... [Read More]
