Well since there's a growing amount of FF's logging on this sight i thought it best to get some fishin talk goin.

I grew up around and in shepparton. My favourite fish to catch is Murray Cod!
I like to cast lure the most. I've only just gotten into casting surface lures and i love them! i love the stalking you do once a fish has a bit of a go. Once he has a go he can't help it but to hit it until hes hooked.
The udrenallin (Spelling  ) is awsome when they actually hook up!

What is your fav fish to catch and how do you like to catch them?

My Fav fish is the good ol' Murray cod as well, the thought that you might get a 1+meter fish just makes every bite or strike on the lure more exciting.

Hey Fella's
Im also a big freshwater fisho, it was my passion for fishing that developed into a passion for fish. Now i guess its a disease, got 22 tanks at home :)

My favourite angling is casting lures and trolling for all our natives, I love using top waters, buzzbaits, poppers etc for Cod. Casting spinnerbaits for yellas and Cod and even fly fishing for Macquarie Perch and Silvers!! There is nothing better than being on a quite river enjoying the serenity and nature and flicking lures all day long and letting go our beautiful native fish :)

All this talk of fishing and i think ill need to pop up to Torrumbarry for a troll this weekend he he

We ought to arrange a TFT fishing trip sometime in the future, Marc doesnt mind a fish either boys :)

Cheers
Jules

G'day fella's

Well it looks like there are a few of us out there that are keen on chasing that mighty green fish. I to love to chase the mighty Murray Cod. I Was up the river for the long weekend but had no luck. I tried some trolling but there were to many cray pots out there  , all you could see was plastic bottles all the way up the river. Tried some casting for a while but didn't even get a touch, I think it's got something to do with the temp of the water. It was only 11.5C for the whole week end. But it was still a good weekend camped out up there away from all the BS that we all seem to get cought up in during the week.

I think it might be better to plan a trip for later in the season when things fire up a bit more in the warmer weather.

Rob,
whereabouts up river were you? 11.5 is cold, it was 13.5 - 14 degrees at Torrumbarry 10 days ago!!!!

The last place i fish before moving was Torrumbarry.
Its a great place. i only managed on cod but my mate got a couple. All released of coarse.

A TFT fishin trip would be an awsome idea! definantly up the murray some where.

Catchin cod in the winter is alot tuffer but maybe more rewarding  .

G'day Jules,

The water must warm up a bit as it heads farther down strem. I was in the Barmah State Forest. I get up there every chance I can.

Hey guys! Yeah I'd be up for a campin/fishin/drinkin trip too! I came down here from Albury/Wodonga so used to fish the Murray a lot... Not many Cod up there at the time but had a nice little channel off the Kiewa river that was full of em! Must say though my fav fish to catch is the old Yella belly. Thats what I was originally gonna have in my tank but couldn't get a hold a one! Talk to ya's soon guys!

Looks like Torrumbarry the place to go. There would want to be a bloody big camp site up there by the sounds of things to fit every body in. But then again, "I dont know about you blokes" but i'd roll me swag out on broken glass if it meant I had a chance at wetting a line and chasing a cod.

I haven't fish that part of the river before. Went up there once,on Aust/day w/end 2002 it was about 50c in the shade, I spent more time sitting in the river and drinking green cans  that i did tring to catch a green fish.

Well once upon a time long ago..........................

There just happens to be a place near a certain power station in Vic
Where the cichlids swim free

Because the lake is warmed by the cooling stations it has a lovely ambient temperature.

Then one day a really nice ranger type guy came along and released lots of cichlids to combat the mozzies..

Now it's full of lots of lovelies................and rumour has it even the scarce Fronty maybe hiding in there.

We raced our boat there the other month there and i can guarantee i would rather be up to my B##lls in that lake than the Murray river at this time of year, its like a bath!
Steam coming of it in the morning and all!
Any one own a casting net?!

You wouldn't be able to see your hand in front of your face in that lake boys, it is apparently water that is pumped from the bottom of the mine to stop flooding then ran through the cooling towers of the power station,
wonder if there are any 3 eyed fish like in the Simpson's? lol
