Hey TFT'ers,

I've managed to piece together a nice collection of Electric Yellows (med to large size) from various sources. Now I have about 14 of them mixed sex, the big males are starting to show signs of wanting to breed with some of the females.

What I am curious about now, is should I split the group up into a big nice male with 4-5 females each, or I am fine to just leave them as one big group (colony)?

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Hi Marc,

I have personally had more success with larger colonies of electric yellows. My current colony consists of 50 fish (5 males) in an 8 x 2 x 2.

Cheers, Doug

Thanks Doug, that's 5 males to 45 females! wow! ) Lucky guys:)

I definately have more males than I need, so I'll trade some of those off and see if I can hold of some more females, even small ones I suppose.

Thanks for the advice.

Sloory, I'm off DSL until Tuesday (using dial up atm). So as soon as I get back on broadband I'll get some updated photos up.

Do you guys provide any type of special places for your Yellows to breed in other than just rocks?
also what size are they before they are at a age where breeding will start ?
