I was thinking about getting a fluval fx5 for my 5 foot (about 450 liters) for discus and i was wondering if the flow rate would be too powerful and disturb the discus? Thanks Dave.

Too much is never enough, just disperse the outlet and it will be fine, hell i just put a 2200lt canister on my 4 footer! have a 1800lt on my 5 footer and a 1200lt on my 3 footer and i can have as many fish as i want with no problems.
heaps of filtration has never caused me any problems at all!!

As long as the discus can keep still without any constant effort its fine.
They don't enjoy staying in a current.
So just disperse the water flow via a rain bar or similar.
