Hi guys, ive just joined after starting up a tropically tank about a week ago, I was wondering if I could get some suggestions of where some good shops in Sydney are. Though for the greater good of the forum anywhere in the country. Apart from Strickleys and Majestic i dont really know any.
Thanks

Hmm i'm not sure mate, I'm from meblourne and most of the more active members are too. Though i did go to a good one in Manley a fair while ago. But i can't remember what it was called.
Sorry for being no help but Welcome to the forum  .

I remember dealing with Trans Aquarium years back, but that was for my Discus fetish back then.
I'm sure they're really good with a wide variety.

hi and welcome to the fish tank, although i live on the south coast, i buy most of my fish from either strickly aquariums at Heathcote (near the black stump and maccas) or from Majestic Aquariums on Taren Point road near domayne and in a complex with Repco and some other shops.
St George has a great variety of fish but don't open on Sundays.
As for the bubbler's heaters, hoses etc, i buy them from my local hydroponics shop. As a comparison the last submersible pump that i bought , was 148.00 from the local aquarium and 47 from the hydroponic shop!
Pays to shop around and find some where that suits your taste and price for fish.

Thats interesting that there was such a big price difference between a aquarium and a hydroponics shop, was it the same item or just a comparable one?
It does pay to shop around though, you are right there Mitch

Hi Dazz, yeh the pump looked the same and had all the same markings but in a box that you can't read. all in chinese or greek or whatever, but its been working fine and he (the hydro shop) keeps spare pump blades and rotors in stock.
And keeps 300w heaters for $20.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but which shop in Sydney would have a good variety of goldfish? I'm looking for a pair of medium-size lionheads :)

I cant say ive paid all that much attention to goldfish might be worth ringing round. Shops I can recommend that ive been too are, Strickleys , Majestic at Taren Point , Riverside at Campsie. All in the Southern region of Sydney

Hi
Not too sure where to get lion head goldfish......
But, I'd like to give a small plug for my local FS, namely FishCulture on Military Road, Cremorne, just past maccers heading east.
They've only been there a short while, but are extremely helpful and their fishes are really good quality. Good selection of tropicals and rainbows.
But I also agree with earlier postings, the St George and Manly aquarium shops are good too.
Cheers
Peter

i went to sydney today going to aquarium shops( i'm from canberra ) two i wouldn't recommend are Ace Aquariums and Bexley Aquariums, at Ace the service was extremely poor and the staff were rude, Bexley was a bit grubby, smelly on the inside with a plus there was a smoky odour as well, the guy serving was very slow, prices were ok though. Strictly Aquariums is alright, Lam's Aquarium in Parramatta and Aurburn Aquarium and pet centre were my favourite out of the ones i went to, with good service, although i have never been to any aqaurium shop with better service than my local fish shop, the staff actually know what they are talkin about, if you do find any good ones let us know, as i will make sure i visit them next time i'm in sydney
