Painting tanks

i was wondering if anyone has ever painted the back of their aquariums? i thought it would be a good idea for a background but does it give off harmful chemicals to fish?

No probs as long as its painted on the outside of the tank..

I've only ever painted plain just so that you can't see all the garb behind or the back wall.

Yep have to agree with Joz, paint it on the outside and you will have no problems, well aired until the smell is all gone if you can
