sounds awesome mate but in a 55 gallon u could keep way more fish.
and rummy nose tetras go really well with neons imo.

what about some blue eye rainbows , they will go with the neons well, and then u could try some scissor tails or something like that , i think u have lots of room in that size tank also

with a 55 gallon, you could go so much more!

I'd suggest Dwarf Chain Loaches. Kept in a group of say 5-6 they are very energetic and very entertaining like all Loaches but they do not grow huge! They really liven up your Tank and are non aggressive.http://www.thefishtank.com.au/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

Hmmmm might have to google them, I'm starting to think i have a thing for bottom dwellers, maybe i need a few tanks with multiple bottoms!

I probably wouldnt keep tiger barbs with neons. The barbs are notorious 'fin nippers' and will pick on the smaller neons. I have neons, rummy nose tetras and glowlight tetras and they all get along well and look great:D.

I dont think a 55 is big enough for a school of clown loaches - you can get some smaller loaches that would be more suitaable and dont grow as big such as a yo yo loach (Botia Almorhae) or a zebra loach (Botia striata) or a chain loach (Botia Sidthimunki) - the chain loach only gets about 2" so you could easily get 6 - 10 of them and they would liven the tank amazingly

If you find out where to get Striatas in numbers, let me know too! CASH MONEY!
