I'm starting a new 3ft community tank in my room and was thinking about possible fish ratio's for this and had a few questions.
Firstly, I was thinking about having some cardinal and rummy nosed tetra, bristlenosed cats, and 2 clown loaches.
Now another question is do you think that a pair of Kribs would go well in this tank or would they give the bristlenosed cats a hard time seeing they are both bottom dwellers?
also If I porvide enough hiding area's/ caves and plants this should keep the kribs happy if they are added to the community.
There is also a noticable current running from one end of the tank to the other would the kribs mind this current as I have read they prefer calmer waters.
Keep in mind there are no fish in the tank yet and I am open to suggestions about what to stock
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any help

Hi Tim,
"cardinal and rummy nosed tetra, bristlenosed cats, and 2 clown loaches"- these guys should be fine together, i set up a tank for a friend of mine and we put all those fish in together, he currently has a round 8-10 cardinals, 3 rummy nosed and 4 clown loaches and a catfish and these guys seem fine together! all awesome fish to look at too, i reckon you'll enjoy them!

Hi Tim, I think you have made a good selection there for a community tank, I'm not familiar with the Kribs so I won't make comment on that but all the others I have kept and have had no problem with them being together.

Hey guys and thanks for the replies,
I was wondering to about ideas for final numbers so as not to overcrowd my new tank ;).
I know that Kribs can be a bit nippy and territorial but are fine with fish the same size or faster fish so I think that all the tetra and the loachs would be fine with a pair of kribs, I'm just a little unsure if the kribs will be stressed or not enjoy the amount of water circulation in the tank as I have been lead to believe they like stiller waters. I'm also worried they might beat up on the Bristlenosed cats as they will be sharing the same tank space.
I know the cats are tough little buggers but still I don't want them constantly harrassed.
Anyway thanks again for your replies and I look forward to hearing some more views ;)

Hi tim,
I also think you've made a good choice.
I've become very interested in kribs recently so i'll be keen to see how they go for you. :)

Kribs tend to be quiet and keep to themselves like Blue Rams, though the little Blue Rams are more colorful.
Both very peaceful, but do remember that they are still cichlids and do the usual carry on at times.
(note to self ,buy some rams)

I love blue rams!
I had a couple of awsome german bread rams in a planted tank.
They looked awsome but i couldn't get hold of a german bread female. (living in shepp at the time i had to order them.)

I too can't wait for the rest of my plants, wood and a few rocks for a nice corner of caves to turn up and my tank to finish cycling so I can get the baby all setup and running.
I was talking to my LFS today and they are going to get a pair of german bred kribs in for me when I want them, so its all looking good  .
Thanks for all the replies.
