hey guys,
my bf has a tank with 2 silver sharks, a sucker fish and dozen tetras. ive noticed that the little guys keep to the bottom of the tank and look very nervous and twitchy and i think its because the silver sharks are so rough when they chase each other around so we decided that we will put them in a differnt tank but we wanted to have more than just the two sharks so...can anyone suggest a fish that is semi robust (not tougher than the silver sharks) that wont mind the active tank with a bit of crashing and bashing around? also the tank is small (2 ft, around 60 litres) so they cant grow too big- although i know this is inevitable! thanks guys- any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hey, I know I used to have a rather... we'll call it over excited tank haha, and I remember that I had a school of mossgreen barbs in there and they are in no way a soft fish they will hold thier own against a bigger angry fish but won't go causing trouble if they have space, but keep in mind they can be a bit prone to nipping fins.
They usually just busy themselves rough housing with the other barbs and not bother the other fish.
hope that helps,
Tim.

In my experiences with keeping silver dollars for the last 8 or so years, Silver dollars are the last thing you want in a tank with rough fish, I found them to be the most scared and flighty fish i have ever kept.
At the slightest unexpected movement they would crash and bang themselves all over the tank , some to the extent of killing themselves. :(
And these fish were purchased as babies just 2 cm long and as you all know i just sold my last 3 at 12cm long, so they were well acclimatised in my tanks.
Sorry to disagree with you Sloory !!
thats IMHO anyway.

I'd have to agree with you there, ive always been told they are quite fragile fish!
and Tim, thanks heaps for your suggestion, i went to the aquarium and looked at some barbs, spoke to the lady there as well and she said they would be perfect! but they make for an active tank! also said i would need a few of them to stop them from nipping!
thanks for the suggestions guys!

Yeah thats exactly what I was told, and do believe it as I had 2 to start with and they were rather nippy to the other fish but once I had about 6 in there they just played with the other barbs and pretty much left the other fish well enough alone.

Hey Dazz, I had silver sharks in with my silver dollars and they were fine , but my shark wasn't all that lively, maybe because he was the only one not in a group?
