My daylight bulb has blown recently and I'm trying to source a replacement bulb. None of my LFS seem to have the same bulb.

It looks like a mini-fluro light. The writting it has on the one end is: KES 6500K T5. Its about 15mm in diameter, and 288mm in length (not including the pins which are 7-8mm long on each end)

Anyone able to tell me what i need? and where to get one?

Its from a Hailea 71L tank (here's a link (http://www.hailea.com/e-hailea/product1/FA400.htm) to the website) and here's my thread with pictures of the tank: link (http://www.thefishtank.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=1001)

12" LO T5's can be a pain to locate unless you have a large aquarium nearby. You might have more success online, or by finding a store that stocks hailea products and asking them to order one from their supplier.

I worked out that its not the light that's blown its the light holder... (both bulbs work in the other holder and swapping leads doesn't help either so its definitely the holder) (its just the holder, the ballast etc is in the hood) Anyone know where i could source a replacement or will I have to get a genuine Hailea one?

You should be able to get globe holders, ballasts etc from your local electrical wholesale store , Middys or L&H electrical etc, first you need to locate the faulty part and remove it to take it to them to make sure you get the same thing.
Just remember you are playing with 240 volts and its technically illegal to play with these types of things, do you know a electrician that can look at it for you?
might be safer if you are unsure of what to do.

I also have the Hailea tank, 71L. Recently the light stopped working, so I got a new one from the petshop for 10$. They had an exact replacement so I was happy I got it. But that also didn't work. So after carefully looking around I found that it could either be the holder or the circuit behind it. I checked the holder with an avometer for voltage and got 0 volts, so something wrong with the holder or the circuit. Not sure how to get it replaced and getting an electrician might prove too expensive. I'm just getting some LED light strips from Ebay and will put that in. I've seen other posts where people have had this same issue with this tank.
