I am a keen fisherman (not a good one) and i was reading a forum where someone had caught a couple of redfin and put them in a tank.
Well it started from there.
Ive been inspired, but im a complete noob, i mean COMPLETE noob.
Ive always loved aquariums but was never interested in the hard work of keeping them maintained.
But im willing to learn and create my own set up.
I will use this forum as my main use of research, there seems to be alot of ppl on here that know what they are doing.
I am mainly interested in redfin and natives.
I will be looking for a 4ft tank in the future.
Ive just been given a small tank and decided to put a axolotl in there, so in the mean time i will use that as preparing myself for the bigger tank.
Any tips on where to get more info on starting out would be appreciated.
Hopefully in a years time i will have a striving set up!
Excited.
Shane.

Do you have any photos? or links for some photos?
Ill need to have a look at the galleries for some inspiration.
Need to know if anyone has purchased the cheap tank cabinet and hood setups from the mentone aquarium.
$299 seems to good to be true, i asked about the quality of the tank.
Obviously being the salesman he talked it up, but he did say that they have the ability to outlast some of the chinese made tanks.
Ill be moving to Newcastle shortly so i dont know if im keen to transport a cheap tank with a removalist.
Might just wait til i get up there and search around up there.

In regards to my axolotl, i just gave him a worm, he ate half of it and the other half just fell onto the rocks beneath him, i cant seem to see it and i dont want to move him and stress him out.
will he eventually get to it? or should i really concentrate on getting the half eaten worm out of the tank.

Anywho, im pretty sure he got the half worm.

His name is Aquaman.
He has fun chillin out, i feed him worms, pellets and whitebait.

Another question in regards to my 4 Foot natives set up which will be set up once i move to Newcastle.
Im thinking about putting in a sleepy cod, saratoga and a archer.
would that be a good fit?
or would the sleepy cod outgrow them and eat them after a few months.
I realise i will need a bigger tank eventually for the sleepy cod as they can gro 50cm+.
