I live in Nothern Victoria near the murray river. I have a tank with a large oscar fish, and 2 large silver dollars. I recently caught a small redfin in the channel, and decided to put it into the tropical tank. At first it stressed out very much, but now (after 4 weeks) it is fine. It swims and eats happily, and gets along well with the other fish.
They also have character and look great in the tank. they are a little aggressive, however which i didnt think would happen....it gets along really well with the oscar fish.
If you have questions or comments, post me back

G'day Stafo, I once had small baby redfin in with some larger goldfish in a tank, the redfin was smaller but that didn't stop him from killing about 4 of them in one killing spree before he met his maker!

Lol  i did this once.

I caught a small redfin and put him in a 2ft (though he was on his own).
His colours came out brilliant after a while and he became VERY friendly!!
He would eat small yabbies out of my hand!
lol he actually forgave me for hooking him up and dragging him out of the water  .

I had three small redfin I caught (and Nemo's very first fish she caught on a lure) in a tank with a Cod until recently. With water at around 22 degC they were very happy and eating pellets within a fortnight.

I'd still like to setup a tank with just redfin. Awesome looking fish under light.
