I bought a breeding cave from a local guy (Canberra) who makes and fires them himself. He's got a great setup at his place, and breeds all sorts of catfish.
Pic attached - I got the round one on the left. Was in the tank for 5 weeks and then I had my first bristlenose spawn.
If anybody wants to get in contact I'm more than happy to pass enquiries on to him.
Cheers,
Walker

Thanks mr walker, can you tell me how much he charges mate, and if he will post appropriately to minimise chance of breakage.

Would half buried PVC pipe or terracotta pots be OK?

At the time he was charging between $5-$10, depending on size. I'm pretty sure he posts them pretty frequently (don't know what he charges for postage).
I don't want to post his email addy without permission - I'll check with him and PM you if you want.

PVC piping, terracota pots, terracota pipe things, ice cream tubs, wide necked bottles, cups, dirftwood caves, rock caves.
heards of just about any household item of items you can get at the hardware store.
just need something that provides them with a nice deep dark place to do their deeds.
