the sump has been cycling for about 1 mounth now with gold fish in there.
my readings are as follows. Nitrate - 0, Nirite - 2, amonia - 0.25.

G'day, from those readings you've given, it looks like you're on the home stretch; your ammonia has spiked and appears to be on its way down and your nitrite looks like it could go a little higher(still spiking) and then be on its way down. Hmm..? does it seem a little long for this process to be taking, I cycled my African cichlid 6' with a 3' sump in only as little as a week and my 4' Yellow Labs tank in a week also. My tanks have both identical readings; pH 8.2, Ammo. 0.0, Nitrite 0.0 and Nitrate 5, anyway each to their own and as I said it looks like you're on the home stretch. BTW, what's going in the 6', those beautiful angels I saw a couple of months ago? Do you have success with breeding them? I used to have a pair of marble angles (big 6") and they bred like crazy! Good luck, and I'm sure someone else will respond pretty soon with more tips and advise.

Hi Dean everythings sounds good.
Once the 6' is in palce and running just keep an eye on it with some less exxy fish.
I assume your going discus??

Really though if your filter has fully matured you should be able to have fish in the tank right away if your water is aged enough.

Keep us posted.
