Hi all,

I'm Max and I'm from Geelong. Now, I love my fishing but when it comes to keeping fish I don't know much..Maybe you guys can help..

So, I started out with one of those plastic ponds with the waterfall etc. that was given to me by a neighbour...And I bought some typical goldfish i.e comets, shubunkins, fantails, black moors.. all up there are 8 goldfish.

Now, I really want to get into keeping native fish in a tank. I have a small tank at the moment which can hold around 16L... and I just bought 2 x silver perch around 6cm big.. The tank is reasonably big enough for them and I am thinking of putting a couple of small golden perch along with the silvers...

So, can I put golden with silvers? And how quick are these silvers/golden meant to grow? At the moment I'm feeding them pellets as I've heard it is the cheapest/most convenient option... The main reason I ask is if I have to upgrade to a larger tank within a year or not..

Any other recommendations/suggestions?

Hope you guys can help, looking forward to get more involved.
Cheers!

hello and welcome Max,
can i just clarify the size of the tank you currently have please, as 16litre is extremely small for that qty of fish, did you mean 160 litres?

Hi Wombat, sorry if I've confused you. I have:

1 x small pond which holds 300L with (now..) 10 x small goldfish in it

and

1 x 16L tank with 2 x silver perch in it

Hope that clears it up.. cheers
