G'day

My name is Dan and this may sound odd to some or most haha but I am in the market for a Lysiosquillina maculata (Zebra Mantis Shrimp) I haven't had much luck lately in many decent pet stores and was wondering if someone on here could help me, there usually a pest I know but these creatures are quite interesting given the chance and dedicated tank.

Cheers
Dan

Good luck trying to fine them at the petshops. I have never seen one at the shop for sale for the pass 10 years keeping a SW tank.

Go on here: www.masa.asn.au (http://www.masa.asn.au)

You see them go for free once in a while.....

if you live up in QLD you can walk around the water about 30cm deep and see 5 mantis shrimps scrurrying away from you just catch them with your hands or net! i like using my hands for smallies never for big spearers like the one your after the one you want wont smash or even chip glass even though its big:D cos it has spears not clubs only clubbers can chip glass! its harder to catch wild spearers cos they live in burrows and you usually need a snare stuff but you might find one hunting!:D iv'e gotten hit a couple time while holding small clubbers in my bare hands! dosn't hurt that much only 1inch or smaller ones a bit like a small shock and a hard pinch. but they were probably not even trying they seemed more scared of me than trying to hit me:rolleyes: but they cant hit you if you hold them by the back of the head shell. or if youhold the backand front of the head and their not strong enough the escape your pinching grip:)
