I am setting up a Marine Aquarium for the first time, so far I have added my base, converted my Fresh water into Salt, have my levels stable for PH, Amonia, Nitrite and Nitrate and have now added 8kg of live rock. I have had different feedback from different people, some say to continue to add my live rock 2kg every 4 days and others say to add it all and let the tank cycle in 1 go. I have not added any fish yet. I intend on adding another 10-15kg's of live rock and would prefer to do it in one go but am not sure who to be listening to.

I am also still adding my Bacteria 5ml a day, again have had some people say to continue this way and others saying to add the rest of my Bacteria (40ml) in one go.

Any suggestions.

Platies in a saltwater???

Anyway....... put the whole lot in there if you have no fish. Then add your fish in after 4 weeks.

It is just mean to fishes if you put them into a cycling tank.

Keep adding your Bacteria each day.

Do you have any lights? If yes, put them on a timmer and have them on about 7-8hr a day. This will help the "life" on the rocks grow. If you can get some macro aglea from your LFS or for other members (including myself) and put them into your tank, then that will help with the cycling....
