Hi, Newby here.
Forgive me if this is written badly as it's a little hard to explain.:o

Did a water test in a tank with the api test kit, the ammonia test reading was 0.50. Now the water in the teat tube itself was yellow, but there were particles that were green.
The ornaments in the tank, including the seales had a brown algae type growth. Can ammonia attatch itself to to the particles?

Look forward to any comments.

My name isn't bernise, it's the name of my bristlenose.

I'm not sure either, just haven't seen this result before.

No, it's something else, not the ammonia that you can see. Sounds like reaction to an algae of some sort. The tank water is clear?

Yes, the tank water is clear.
PH was 7.2, no nitrate or nitrite.
I did the test a couple of times with the same results.
Oh and the test kit is about 2 weeks old.

It's not my tank, it's a friends and I offered to test her water as she had lost a couple of tetra's.

She was going to do a water change, haven't tested it again. It was just a very unusual result.

MM something was going on in there.
