Hello ppls, I am looking at increasing my cichlid stock in my 5 footer,
I currently have:
4 electric yellows
1 tanzanian acei
3 plecos
2 bristlenose
1 upsidedown cat
1 Labidochromis careuleus. (i think)!!
and a red jewel
I am after suggestions for tank mates that are non aggresive and would like to get some more colour into the tank.
any suggestions would be appreciated as i have been checking cichlid proflies on the net for days now and i am just getting more and more confiused / frustrated!
Help please

G'day Dazz,
For some color why not some Cobalt Blue Zebras, or Electric Blue Males - if it's display only a couple of males without the competition for breeding should be OK?

Thanks Marc, so its really just a basic rule that if i get males only that there will be no trouble in my tank? would that be a fair assumption?

I don't think it's a rule as such, but breeding always introduced agression / competition etc.
I mentioned EB males also as you probably know the females are just silver (no color), and you want color.
I also have many of the fish you mention above in my big display / community tank along with the EB's and Cobalts with no probs whatsoever. Only thing is my tank is 1200 litres though so plenty of room, but with 40+ fish it is heavily stocked.

Thanks Marc ,Thats a great looking tank mate, and to have all those fish without problems is so good, I can only hope to get my mix rite and have a tank that looks like there is actually something in it instead of what i have now!

Patience and slow collecting. I've done two BIG trade in's over time to get rid of what doesn't work and to make way for what does :)
It's great now, but to be honest I'm a little bored with it. I miss working on the tank all the time.... haha

I realize that Aussie, he was an unwanted pet from a friend and is now gone, as is all of my cichlids, the tank is now a planted rainbow tank and is coming along nicely, now just to find a LFS with a 1/2 decent range of rainbows!!!
