I have been googling this morning to determine what it is that came on the branch from my LFS. Among the large number of Zoanthid polyps that were on the branch, there are two small what I have identified as Aiptasia's.
1. Can anybody help me get rid of these?
I used to have a bristle worm problem, then i bought my puffer who ate them all. Whilst cleaning I saw a number of tiny worms that looked like larvae even sucked one up with the enlarger looking thing.
2. What was the larvae?
This morning I looked atop my largest peice of live rock and saw what I can only describe as a small anemone about 2cm*2cm it had a light pink bottom raisd up slightly and little tentacles with white tips on them. it grabbed a bit of the fish dinner that went past it and pulled it into itself(this thing looked NOTHING at all like the aiptasia on the complete opposite side of the tank-much larger and different tentacles).
3. How will I know what kind of anemone this is?
4. If it is one, how did it get there? I scrubbed all my LR with a toothbrush when i got it!

How do I upload a pic into this thread? I put it into my album if you can see there, the pic is blurry. on the right hand side of the pic there is a pink spot you can see the white tentacles and a bit of fish dinner it has grabbed and is eating.

Can't really tell from the photo.... It is not a Aiptasia for sure....
Could be a BTA (bubble tip anemone).
If I were you, I would leave it alone and see what it truns out to be. If it is not doing any harm then just leave it.
If you want to get rid of your Aiptasia then get yourself one or two peppermint shrimps.
BTW, what kind of lighting do you have? BTA needs alot of light.

I have an aqua one 620t the lights that come in the unit are 18w each I have two blue\white lights and then I opened up the top of the tank and put a white spectrum light on top which. Is 36 watts.
There are lots of tunnels through my live rocks and it has sucked back into a hole, I can only see its white tips and tentacles poking out.
Will the shrimp nibble my corals etc?

The lights will not support a bta. But it dont hurt to just leave it in your tank and hope for the best.
Peppermint shrimps are reef safe. They will not touch your corals. They will eat your fish food if they run out off food to eat.

I'm constantly hearing about these huge light requirements for everything. I have a giant pile of lights on my tank that lights up my entire apartment and everybody says it isn't enough, what is enough?
I bought a large hammer coral and was told my lights weren't adequate and it would die, but a month later and its much bigger than it was in the LFS (despite it having killed every zoanthid within reach).
Sometimes I feel like the guys in the shop are just trying to sell me random crap I don't need.

If you add all your light, you get 72w. That is on the low side for most corals.
Some soft coarls will be ok, but they will no colour up as they would with more lights.
BTA's will need at lest 100w of T5 light or 150w MH light. Otherwise they just beach (become white) and slowly die. You won't find out if they dieing or not until it is too late.

Hi, I think I may have a bristle worm problem.. is that a salt water puffer fish? Did a fish shop sell it to you? Did you keep it after it removed your bristle worms?
... disregard, I just read your other posts!! I will attempt to source one for my bristle worm problem!! Cheers

This BTA looking thing is getting bigger and bigger it isn't inside a hole in the rock any more it is on top of the same rock, sometimes its little feelers come out about 1cm.
IT doesn't have all white tentacles like BTA's I see in LFS. it has clear feelers with white tips (like tiny little white balls)It now looks like it has a hard white dot in the middle of it. I will upload a pic soon!
