Hi Guys/Girls,

Yesterday I bought a powder blue tang, he appeared to have been in a fight previously as he had a slightly torn fin.

When i put him in the tank last night my coral beauty attacked.. and continued to for a long long time. My blue tang got in the way and wouldn't let the angel attack... but then when the angel left the blue tang attacked my new powder blue tang.

then later on the coral and tang decided to attack together.

I put a blanket over the tank and all fish went to their own sleeping places and left the new guy alone. This morning I opened it up to feed them and when they woke up it all started again.

How long will it go for? The blue tang and powder blue tang look absolutely nothing alike!

I rearranged the tank only 2 days ago and so this confuses me I thought that would help in avoiding a territorial conflict!!!

I don't want this fish to get so stressed and die, please give me input.

PBT and blue tangs are very different.....

Tangs need a big tank due to territorial behaviour. You need a big tank for them. I would only keep one tang in a 200l+ tank.

If I were you, I would put the PBT into a big breeding net in your tank and see if the other fish accept it.

Good luck. I have a small PBT in a 3x2x2 and would not risk putting any other tangs in the tank.

my pbt is now in intensive care.

I have him in another tiny tank monitoring carefully but do not expect him to make it through the night.

The coral beauty in my tank ripped him to pieces, the blue tan wasn't agressive in the slightest... but the coral beauty bit him alot and he is lying flat on his side, can see him breathing and he kicks his fin every now and again, just fed him a little, put it right up to his mouth and he nibbled on it.. but when he has tried to get up and swim only one fin flaps and he goes back down.

hoping he pulls through but doesn't look good!

Keep him in quarantine tank

1. raise the temperature to 27 - 28... method used in Public Aquariums
2. Add vitamin a drop by the guide Sera Vitamin works perfect!
3. Do regular water changes, water changes do help heal fish
4. Add some melafix to help heal the external damage. dose less than the amount in instruction.
5. vigorous airation, and good filtration.
6. PVC pipe or terracotta pipes to hide in.
7. Red light!!!!! Used in UK most quarantine facilities to calm the fish.
