I have a 3 foot aquarium with an aqua one internal filter rated at 1200 litres per hour.Overkill yes probably but too much is better than not enough. Anyways i have 2 sailfin mollies and a pair of swordtails in there that have whitespot. So today i put in some whitespot medication(Aquarium science whitespot 3 day medicaton) that contains formaldehyde and malachite green..Its the only whitespot medication my local fish store had.It says to add 5ml per 20 litres of water so i put in 35mls. It made the tank go blue but now about 3 to 4 hours later the water is back to normal colour..Im just wondering if my filter could have filtered it all out already or is this a normal thing to happen?? Filter only has sponges in it...No carbon.Just a little confused as i thought it would stay blue for longer than it did.Any advice would be much appreciated.Thank you.

Not sure either but lights on in the tank could also get rid of the blue color.
But I wouldn't dose again without a water change.

How do you think you got white spot in the tank?

Hi Joz......I did a water change before i dosed the first time......Its 3 days later now and i did another water change today and dosed again.....Im thinking i may have caused the white spot in my tank because i forgot for last few water changes to warm the water a little before i added it to the tank....Im pretty sure the fish didnt have white spot when i got them....They had been in the shop for at least 2 weeks that i know of before i bought them and werent showing any signs of any problems.....Am glad to say now that all the spots have gone from my fish and have been ever since the second day since the first dose.Dosed today just to make sure....The fish have been fine throughout the whole ordeal....Have an excellent appetite and swimming happily around.Only reason i knew they has whitespot was because i noticed the spots on their fins and tails. They only had a couple spots on each fish.Thank you for reply Joz....Will see what the next few days brings.

Good luck.
Just keep an eye on the temperature of the water thats going in anf all should be fine.
Also if it does come back over the next few days make sure you raise the temp in the tank aswell as treating with meds.

I raised the temp to 27 when i first put in the meds...Even tho it seems the temp was nearly that anyways so surprised that the white spot got in there in the first place....Thats what has made me think i caused it by adding the new water too cold....I didnt even have a heater in there at first coz the room i have it in is naturally pretty warm so when bought the meds i got a heater also....Think the heater has only came on once or twice since i put it in....Fish still dont have any more spots and still have a great appetite and beg for food everytime they see me enter the room....Is quite funny lol....They all happy little fish but will definately be keeping my eye on them over the next week or so....Need to put a few female mollies in because the 2 males keep chasing eachother around but will leave it a bit longer yet....Have found a reasonable local pet shop mainly selling fish and owner was seemed pretty helpful the other day because i had to take the heater i purchased back because when i opened the box it was broken...Spent probably half an hour talking to him about fish and he didnt really tell me anything i didnt know already but he also didnt try to sell me anything i dont need just to make a quick $$....Few other shops i have been to have had pretty average fish and dead ones in tank and things like that.....but thats chain pet stores for you i guess.
