How many of us actually have a setup and running hospital tank?
I have a spare tank that I use for temporarily storing fish / quarantining etc, that I guess if I had the need to I could add salt for salt batheing http://www.thefishtank.com.au/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
It's just a small 2 footer with an Eheim Classic canister and an air driven sponge.

We had a hospital tank, both to add new fish to our setups and to treat individual sickheads. Was very useful! Fish always seemed to sulk a lot in there though! Needed a lot of water changes... Useful when treating with heavy antibiotics and don't want to damage the bacteria in your filter.

Was that tank for your marine or freshwater fish?
What ratio of salt did you use (if for freshwater) ?

It was for the freshwater fish, whenever we had a sick fish we'd set it up quickly using water straight from the main tank and put the sick fish into it. Can't remember how much salt was added as Heather usually did that but I think she added a bit extra (of course without turning it into a marine tank!). The sick fish was duly put into it, we had already an extra heater and filter for it. Was about a 20L tank and had some plastic plants so they could hide. No light to keep them somewhat subdued. It is easier to treat a fish in a small tank as you don't have to treat all the fish (cheaper on medicine too).
But you have to be quick, becuase if you don't spot the sickhead soon enough, other fish may catch whatever it is.
As a quarantine tank, we used it at first but it was too much of a hassle after a while, often if you buy good quality fish from a decent store, you wont have to many troubles.
