Board Stats

How come the board stats at the bottom of the page say:
Our members have made a total of 1,567 posts
We have 127 registered members
The newest member is Rusty Hook (http://www.thefishtank.com.au/forum/index.php?showuser=3186)
Most users ever online was 161 on Jun 3 2007, 08:30 PM

and the stats on the top of the page say:
148 members 225 threads 1341 posts?????

It's a conspiracy :)

There is a very long detailed technical reason why this is so, to do with what posts are counted and some that are not and so on.

The strangely high "online users" is a result of Google ranking and indexing the site and so on.
