Hi guys,

I just found this Site; I love the fact that it’s somewhat local

I thought I’d introduce myself, my name is Daniel, I have recently moved back to the Sunny Coast in Queensland, after a long stint of travelling. But now I figured it’s time to dust off the old Aquarium gear and give a Planted tank ago.
The new place is kind of small so I am only setting up my small tank that I originally got as a reef tank trial. It’s an Aqua one 620T, I have a via aqua 650 canister filter (1000l/h). The lights are actually a SunSun T5HO set (4x39watt) that I got of ebay (very cheap, I have had to replace both the ballasts and all the tubes to get them running again). Currently I am running a DIY CO2 system, with a DIY CO2 reactor. I plan on going pressurised soon though.

I was surprised to see that the Anubius I put in my mum’s tank before I left, where still alive even if there a little worse for wear. So I grabbed a heap of that for some instant green in the tank. I plan on slowly replacing most of it with other plants, but I’m not too sure what yet, any ideas?

I’m only using river sand as a substrate, dose that limit what plants I can have? I have however dropped a few Flourish Tabs in to help things along.

After reading a bit about the artistic side of setting up a planted/aquascaped tank I realise that it’s not the best arrangement but I’m not too sure on where to start?

Anyhoo I have added a few Pics to get some feedback, so let me have it.... hahahah

P.S. the fish where used to cycle the tank, I will be removing them Very soon ;)

All these shops are independent and if they dont have it they can order it and usually have good prices. Sand hmmmm iv never used it...iv herd of red dirt but only a certain type thou...but if your really keen try the Queensland Aquarium Hobbyist website...some one would know were 2 find some good substrate.
