Over the weekend I got the last bits I needed for a pressurised co2 system setup minus the auto cut off solenoid thing , So I’m turning the co2 off at night before I go to bed. Anyway, I fired it all up on Sunday and sat back and watched as the drop checker changed from slightly blue to bright green, at this point I backed off on the co2 a bit. When I went to bed the drop checker was green and there its stayed for the last day and a bit, but I have added very very little co2, what’s going on? Is there something else sending the PH south? The substrate I’m using is plain old river sand with a few tabs added. My KH is sitting at about 6, I can’t work it out. I have got some broken up coral in one of my filter baskets but I would have thought this would rise the PH if anything... could it be something else?

Hi, sorry for the delayed response, but have you sorted the CO2 system out yet? Did you get the auto cut off solenoid switch in the mean time?

One tip I can offer is to use the old fashioned pH test kit at least monthly to double check the aquarium water pH, as electronic probes can and do get out of calibration.
Cheers
