Hi
my gravel in plant tank has all ternd black will it kill my plant's and fish
what can i do ???
do i have to put a under gravel plate
how do i get the black out of my red gravel

but it smell's I have gravel clened twice and its not going
can it be the backterya that are dieing in gravel
the gravel is 3in thick
1inch at the top is all good but you dig in and is all black

when you wash gravel is cold water or hot is there much light hitting the gravel what are you water condition what fish have you got are you running co2

well I have just re dun the tank with layerring of under gravel plate, fly mesh, 1cm of 6mm gravel, 4cm of Laterrite, 2kg of ion-or , 2cm 4mm gravel, 3kg of ion-or, 1cm of 2mm gravel

and I will not clean the gravel ever a gane

the fish wher not doing to good I was doing weekly water changes

I just hope my rear plants do good

Clasic impacted gravel. A real heavy gravel clean right down to the glass would have fixed this black smelly mess.

in my opinion to me that sounds like WAY tooo much gravel.

the thicker the amount of gravel the more food and fish waste that gets trapped into it and it just rots and can turn into gasses that could be harmfull to the fish.

I also think you should use less fish food.coz often it happens that they make gasses.which can cause problems.
