Just recently brought 6 ft tank, only have single barra and archer fish. with 2 red claw crayfish also. my question is what other native fish would be ideal to keep with the my choice?

some ppl have luck in keeping a cod in with them
im 1 of the unlucky ones my cod and barra hate each other its world war 3 so had to seperate them
but i have heard ppl have put them together with no problem just remember these fish get big = real big
im saving up for a new custom built tank for my cod 8 foot long by 4 foot wide by 4 foot high nice and expensive but keep him happy for the years to come never want to sell him or get rid of him

barra are a hard fish to chose tank mates for. another barra is probably ur best bet. if not sleepy cod can sometimes work.
i have my barra with a silver perch, and they get along great, will sometimes even squeeze into the same hiding place together when i am doing the water change =P.
(they are both wusses, probably still traumatized from when there was a larger fish in the tank.

my barra get along with my juvinal x breed fh x synspilum as aggressive as they are they seem to be freindly to each other atm but the barra does get cranky every now and again and flares up at them and gives them a nudge

I used to keep my barra with a sleepy cod, bass, spangled perch, and a salmon tail catfish, they got on fine, the spangled was the most aggressive but he used to give as good as he got. I think it depends on what size that the are when you put them together, most of mine were together from about the 10-15 cm size.
