I'm no expert man, ut those are possible stress bars! Many Americans look 'prettier' when they are horny, angry or full of food! ha ha ha!

Agree with Pete from Tassie.

Lack of color is a sign that something's quite not right, and usually stress related.

What other fish are in the tank? Are they harrassing the Angelfish at all?

Also check your water parameters to make sure your PH and nitrate levels are ok.

Or your fish is plain O'l relaxed.
If anything like discus which only show their bars when agitated they show little or no bars when relaxed and just chillin.

its funny coz you are all kind of right.. the angel does seem relaxed it picks on some other fish but not very much it just swims at the gouramis ..its the biggest fish in the tank so nothing is really going to attack it.. well i hope your right joz coz it only appears in colour when food is about...you dont suppose that it has no colouring due to a lack of food do u

I think its fine, but just to make sure keep the diet varied. With both live and frozen foods in addition to the dry stuff.

Hi Medwards86,
I am a bit of a beginner at this myself, but I have an angelfish who has had similar problems in the past. I bought the fish as a pair from my local shop, one black and one white angel. Both were really healthy but at some point or another (can't remember why) the whole tank fell victim to disease, and whilst all the other fish survived, the black angel didn't make it. I restored the rest of my tank back to health but the white angel became very moody, dull coloured and would remained tucked away in the corner until feeding time when it would come out to eat. Whilst both angelfish used to be quite responsive to my presence in the room, the white one was now startled everytime my shadow would move over the tank to feed them. The only concusion I could draw was that he missed his friend, so (although my boyfriend laughed at me) I went to my local to buy him a new mate. On their recommendation I bought a much younger one so as not to be a threat. Whilst it took a few days for the two to get used to each other, all problems I had with the existing angel were fixed! Both were very happy together and the initial white angel's mood and colours returned to normal.
Sadly, however, I just returned from an overseas trip to find the new mate I had bought for my angel has also died. The original angel has become moody and booding again, now having lost two friends. :(
Not sure of the relavence to your situation but hope it helps.

Hi, I have had 6 Angels for a long time now and they do this all the time, I think that it is just a mood thing, there is defiantly nothing wrong with their health, the water is fine and nothing is bullying them, I think it is normal Angel behavior. ( Like the Discus as said. )
