Is it OK to put your heater in your sump or is it less effective that way?
I don't really want to put the heater in the tank if possible, with all the tanks and heaters and pumps running in my house i don't want the heater to be working its bum off all the time either!!

Thanks Jimmy i didn't think there would be a problem as such BUT
do you find that the heater is running longer in the sump , rather than in the tank itself?
IE Less effective? working harder, costing more to run?

Hi Dazz, you'll pabably find that it it'll more effective in the sump.
From there the warm water gets pumped out and moves around the tank more evenly.
But!!
There always seems to be a but.
If for some reason the sump pump stops working, you will not only have no filter but also no heater effectively.
Because the heated water wont get into the tank.
Although it's unlikely it still may happen.
