Just wanted to introduce myself to all. I am Jamie and I live in the top end :) Darwin to be exact. I recently bought my girlfriend a fighter fish as a spontanous gift which she loved. Fishies get the girls! :biggrin:

Now all of a sudden we have gone from one small fishbowl with a fighter fish to an entry level kids tank (20l) with a guppy, platy, molly and tetras. It doesn't end there! The weekend that just past we went out and bought a new tank (125L) which cost us an arm and a leg but it seems so worth it now that it's half setup at home :biggrin:

Anyways we haven't yet decided on the fish for the newest tank. Keep an eye out for my next "what to buy for my big tank" thread :)

I'd always heard rumours about this 'bug' but I never believed it till now. I'm completely obsessed now :) I even want to buy another small tank for myself so I can have fish closer to me whilst I type this :(

We've just started adding fish to the tank now.
Currently we have:-
6 Neon Tetra
2 Cardinal Tetra
1 Molly
1 Platy
1 Guppy

We will be adding:-
4x Cardinal Tetra
2x Molly
3x Platy
4x Guppy

We'll see how they go for a while and then look at adding some larger fish :) I went to the pet store yesterday and had a look at a Ghost Knife and man he was awesome! Definately want one of those. Was told to buy him small so that way he doesn't try to eat all the tetras. Also looking at grabbing a catfish and possibly some small angel fish.

Sounds great Jamie.

Just keep an eye on the pH as tetras like the water to be on the acidic side of neutral, that is slightly below 7.0 whereas guppies, platies and mollies prefer shightly alkaline water, or pH slightly above 7.0. In your case best to keep the pH as near to 7.0 as you can.

Good idea of yours to see how they go for a while, and if need be only get additional ones that suit the water conditions. :wink: .

I haven't kept ghost knives, so can't comment, but certainly you want the angel to grow up with the neons and cardinals, as a larger one will eat them, especially the neons :ohmy: !! If they grow up together the angels are less inclined to eat the neons (unless they're really hungry I guess!!).

Cory's are great little catfish to have in the tank in a small group of three or so, very entertaining.
