Algae Build-Up From Lights

Hi,

Can anyone advise if leaving the tank light (two bulbs) on for long periods will cause the same algae build-up around the tank glass that exposure to direct natural light would?

I have moved my tank to an even darker area of the room, however I am wondering if I should limit the time the tank light is on per day to try and prevent algae build-up?

Any advice appreciated.

Yes the lighting can contribute to algae build up. Limiting lit time is advisable
