New aquarist.
Already I've made a fatal mistake by not doing fishless cycling. So I now have 2 guppies, 3 clown loaches and a red tip black shark. (I know the loaches are most at risk when the tank finally does cycle.)
So my problem is there has been no ammonia reading yet and it's been 4 weeks. I read it could take up to 3 months to do an infish cycle, which is fine. But is there any tips to help it along. I read some stuff that overfeeding can help, though it's inaccurate. So should I be trying to overfeed them?
Also should I turn the heater up?
And lastly, with my filter I have the option of high or low oxygenation (is that even a word) should I have this on low until I get an ammonia reading then put it on high when I'm trying to lower the ammonia.
Some notes. I have read about the cycle and understand it (wish I'd done a fishless). I test for ammonia daily. I know once there is ammonia I need to do about 15% water changes daily and continue monitoring. I know it'll take ages cos it's a big tank and I'm prepared for casualities. (if they all die I'll do a fishless)
Sorry long post
