Red jewel egg eaters

Hi all,

My young red jewels have paired off and she is laying eggs. She has done this twice within a week, and eaten the lot both times. Is this normal, and how can I stop it? I would love them to breed successfully.

OMG! He has turned on her something savage. I had to take her out of the tank beforenshe got killed, it all happened in the space of half an hour. What's going on?
