Finally have a suitable tank for my Giant Gourami, and my breeding pair of Rivulatus.
My question is are there any plants suitable for American's that won't be mauled?

Anubias are pretty tough, though they are slow growers so if the africans are able to eat them they'll be toast.
Floating plants may work (if you can find any that aren't already declared noxious weeds)
I would think that a heavily planted tank (fast growing stem plants) with high light/ferts/CO2 injection could sustain a certain number of africans, It's definitely something I'll try if I get into them.
[edit] water lily's are another option, even my oscar doesn't bother them.

Marc,
I had java Fern and small leaf Anubis in my African tank with 12 + cm Africans and had a good rate of growth even after they picked at them.
i also had a red jewel in there and i never saw him at the plants at all.
