Hi all,
Well, my first experience with getting fish shipped from livefish.com.au has gone bad :( The cardinal tetras arrived this morning, dead. And the plants I ordered are all broken too.
Is this common? Am I better sticking with the less extensive selection from my LFS than getting them shipped to my home, or have I just been very unlucky the first time?
Please relate your experiences from livefish.com.au or any other online retailers of live fish and plants.

I've phoned and left a message on someone's mobile phone, and emailed them as well. Hopefully they will get back to me soon with a refund.

Well Helen , my fish were all great but the delivery process was a shambles, I think i will go to one of the many LFS in my area b4 I use them again. BUT if i need more glass shrimp I guess I will use them again just because their price is so cheap!!! like me!

Hi Helen, did they give you a refund or store credit? also did you have to prove that the fish were dead, by a photo or anything??

They gave me a refund of the cost of the fish.
They haven't refunded me the shipping charge, though I have asked them to please do that too. I also bought some gravel from them, so currently I've bought $5 worth of gravel for $19 ($14 shipping charge), which is a little annoying.
On the upside, they didn't ask me to prove that the fish were dead, though I did send them a photo incase it gave them any ideas of why they died. And they refunded the cost of the fish with no hassle and polite, "I'm very sorry but these things do happen" email messages.
I am thinking I'll give livefish.com.au one more chance, maybe, and if it doesn't work out then, I'll definitely not try them again.

As an update on this, livefish.com.au have now refunded me the shipping charge as well. So I am happy with their customer service, at least.
And I've made another order from them - hopefully this time the fish will arrive in good shape.

Good luck Helen, after my first delivery stuff up I sent them a email and conveyed my grievances, they actually replies and gave me store credit so my next delivery was free of freight, shame they stuffed up that one aswell!!

Well I decided to use up my credit from my last tragic order.
I ordered on the 23rd, and I'm yet to hear anything. :( :(
I'm not usually one to give business a bashing, but really, I'm very dissapointed in their operation.

crap, I was just browsing through their selection of catfish and their longfin bristlenose (3.5cm) are $115 each! Thats about four times the price they sell for in the LFS. I sure as hell wouldn't have five of them if they were that expensive!

Hi
wen acclimatising fish especially after shipping i find the best way is to use drip acclimatisation, transportation is very stressful for fish so when receiving new fish to increase there chance of survival drip acclimatisation works best. Sorry to here that they were DOA, IMHO Dave and Robyn from Aquagreen provide the best customer service although they don't have the same range of fish, they do have a large selection of plants, with very good value for money, and would be the first choice for me and many people on one of the other aussie fish forums.

An update on my livefish.com.au experience:
They contacted me just now to say that my order (of 5 corydoras panda and some glass shrimp) had been sent... without the corydoras!
This is the second time they've not been able to supply the fish they advertised (last time the cardinal tetras were late and then later and then they only sent 5 not the 8 I wanted and then those arrived dead). And the second time they've only told me that after sending the relatively unimportant part of the order, leaving me shelling out for a delivery fee for something that was really an afterthought.
I am unimpressed again and this is the last time I'm going to try dealing with livefish.com.au. Two strikes and they are definitely out, with me. It's a pity, as they seem basically responsive in their customer service, if not fast in their delivery.
Disappointed!
Based on my experiences, I can't recommend them. You'd be better off driving to your closest decent fish shop rather than waiting 2 weeks just to get messed about by livefish.com.au.

Dave at aquagreen where? Is that a website?
I'm in inner Melbourne without a car, so anything too far out is too much hassle for me.

it will be shipped to your door, so you don't need to pick it up. His customer service is fantastic, and his quality is superior.
