Man I love that tall wall unit with the cichlids in it Sean, The other cichlid tank looks heaps better in real life, wen i was there i was in awe of it. so clean and blue.
You are doing a great job with them mate, just work on your fish selection and get rid of the bullies and you will have less fish getting beaten up!!
good luck with them mate.

How's the giant gourami settled in Shaun ?

@ joz. hehe sorry mate. hehe
@ marc. the gourami..

it settled in well. when we put it in our 6x2x2. it attacked our huge oscar and started attacking our red devil.. hehe
so we put the gourami in our other 6foot tank. its happy there..

but man it poo's alot. hehehe. what food can you feed it so it doesnt waste alot??
im too scared to add any other fish with it now. hehe

about the scavengers. how are they all going. also the blue acara's, i miss those blue acara's. the male is really nice

since seeing your 5 foot tank. we also decided to make out 6x2x2 a full american tank.

Hmmmm .. he's got aggressive? He's either hungry or the tank isn't crowded enough (or both). He was very peaceful for us indeed.
Feed him cos lettuce, prawns, garden peas etc, then his poo is a lot more neutral and breaks down easier. Pellets / Flakes etc - will dirty your water very quickly.

The Blue acara's didn't settle in very well at all. They both became sick and I managed to rescue them into a hospital tank. The male made it, the female did not sadly.

The pleco's are VERY happy and the middle size one is SO active ... never stops swimming around.

There's probably 20+ eggs in there based on her past performance.

Personally I would wait about a week and then tumble the eggs myself.

i heard of that tumble thingy. in a DIY Section. not sure if it was here?
i will do some research

so once i tumble the eggs, the fish will just feed off the egg sack, am i right??
does it really matter how big the tumbler has to be?

thanks man

thanks man

sorry for all the questions..

can i ask also.. the afra's.. are they*baby fries or are they eggs.. do i have to use an egg tumbler also on the afra's?

how long till i can spit those out?

Marc
8th October 2007, 11:49 PM
I use tumblers on everything I want to keep.

All mouthbrooders are eggs for about a week, then they start developing tails and eyes.

Strip about 14-21 days and put them into a tumbler. That's my advice.
