My names Reece, Im new so I thought Id introduce myself and my tank.

I got the tank about 2yrs ago for free from my cousin. While i was figuring out what to put in it, I sectioned off one corner of the tank and turned it into a large bio filter, and let it run for a while to get started. The media is crushed coral and at the botom of that is a 800L/hour pump which pums the filtered water to the other end of the tank.

There are about 12 Chichlids in there at the moment. 4 Electric yellows, Lombardies; 2 males and 1 female and about 5 Lombardie fry. there are also 2 golden algae eaters.

The Lombardie's are nuts, the 2 males were at war and a few of the females were killed. The always breed which is handy. The only problem is that when they are borne the are all blue but when they mature the male turn yellow which upsets the male/female ratio and full scale war breaks out.. So if any one in perth need some lombardie's soon Ill sell em real cheap

Nice looking tank there Reece, good job!

The yellows look great in there.

Is that just an internal filter on the other end as well as the bio filter up the other end?

What sort of pump are you using to move the water through the bio?

Yeah got that other filter up the other end. i think it just moves the water around more than anything else.

For the bio, the water trickles over the devider at the top and passes throught the crushed coral. Then there is a 800L/hour submersable pond pump under the coral connected to a piece of polly tube that send the water to about 3/4 the way along the tank.

Update...
I have 11 new lombardie fry.

The two big males faught each other and 1 died but then they bread so its all good. Hopefully most of the fry are female because 6ft is not big enough for two large males.
