As you now know from my intro, I work retail sometimes and working retail is oh so fun at times.
Here is just one of the funny things heard in the Aquarium store.
Customer: this heater I bought here last week is not working (wave's heater at shop assistant), I want my money back.
Shop: I'm sorry to hear that. May I ask in what way is it not working?
Customer: the light doesn't come on.
Shop: OK??? what temp did you have the heater set at? And what temp is your fishtank at?( mid summer in QLD)
Customer: I set the dial to 25 degrees and the tank is at 30 degrees. I had it in there all weekend and the tank is still at 30 degrees.
Shop: I see, (tries to not laugh and maintain professional outward appearance) the light wouldn't come on in those circumstances. This is a heater NOT a cooler.
Then followed buy a long winded explanation about how the thermostat works in a heater.
Customer: OH!?!
Customer's wife in the background: I told you that's how it worked.
Customer sheepishly paid for the new purchases they had picked up while bringing the faulty heater back, and takes the heater away to keep the tank warm next winter, followed by his wife who exchanges a knowing smile with the shop assistant.
Moral to this is Guys sometimes our wives are right, and maybe read the instructions at least once.
The scary thing is, this has happened a number of times. And as much as I'd hate to say it, never by a woman.
Does anyone else have any of these type of stories to tell?
