Hi guys and gals, just thought I'd start this topic just for the awareness about filtering your tap water.
Only because its not just for better drinking water but also for healthy fish.
I know Reverse Osmosis is probaly the premier form of filtration but I just thought I'd add some more options to the selection.
For what it's worth I use KFDF filtration which feeds directly into my main display tank.
Over the years I have also used Ion Exchange (dioniser) filters for tricky discus pairs, this gives you super pure water that is totally stripped of everything and you have to replace virtually all mineral content just so the fish can survive, but exxy to run :(

I have added a link to the supplier of my stuff only for your perusal (I have no commercial interest btw).

crystalline (http://www.crystalline.com.au/page61b.php).... :)

You see I've always believed in chemical removal as opposed to adding other chemicals to neutralize. All because our water board adds a horriffic cocktail that I doubt is condusive to our and our fishes health.
