Rainbow Worries

Hi all

I just yesterday evening noticed that one of my neon rainbows has some strange long hair-like things coming out of both ends, ie mouth and anus. The hairs (for want of a better description) are about 4 or 5 cm long, almost clear and there is only one hair at each end. The rainbow at the time did not appear lethargic or behave otherwise affected.

This morning the rainbow appeared quite sick :( and was hiding behind the filter intake, which is something it never does.

I wonder if it may be indirectly related to stress as I have moved all fish and plants into a new larger aquarium, but all other fish seem OK. Water quality and filtration is good.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the comment. I thought along the same line, namely could it somehow be a bit of hair grass or so, but no I don't think so. The 'hair' at the mouth has gone, I thing it broke of when he ate something, but the backend one has grown to about 6 or 7 cm now. Weird.... :ohmy: ..

Strangely, he doesn't appear to worried about it now and is as lively as the rest of the mob.
