I dont know if we are allowed to do this on the forums (so pull me up if we're not)

But where does everyone go to buy their fish from and do they have a favourite place, ie: good prices, healthy fish and good customer service. Just thought if we could get a list of quality aquariums it could help everyone out

The to Aquariums that i used have closed down in the last 6 months so im running out of place to go :(

Cheers,

Hi Prowse,

My two preferred aquariums are VL Aquarium (High St, Preston),
and mainly Aquarium Addicts (Theo), in Campbellfield (www.aquariumaddicts.com.au (http://www.aquariumaddicts.com.au)) - mainly as he specialises in rare Tanganyikan cichlids.

Just thought I'd put this site up, its one of my favourites! I have never found anything cheaper elsewhere, especially their filters. They post Australia wide, and customer service is excellent. http://www.theaquariumshop.com.au/ .

So if anyone needs new filters/filter media or even fish food give this place a go.

Cheers,

Cheers Firedragon,

Thats where I go all the time  , my whole tank ATM is stocked by them. I use to also go to the one in Ivanhoe but it closed down. Sometimes I find Waterworld to be a bit expensive -> I dunno maybe im just a tight ass  . But your right about the staff always been friendly, couldnt ask for better service.

Cheers

Andrew

My Favorite LFS would be Rayonne Aquarium in Plenty Rd Preston, nice ppl, healthy fish and great service, not too expensive either,
I also was shown a LFS not so local to me but was really well priced and the lady there was real knowledgeable and helpful (not too bad on the optic nerve either!!)
they are called Aqua force in Boronia rd Boronia
I agree with you about Water world in templestowe, they are expensive , but helpfull.

Mt fav used to be StKilda but now they've got reptiles in place of lots of nice tanks.
Sorry I have zero interest in Reps.

All Aquarium in Mulgrave used to be a little treasure trove of fish, but that to has changed :(

Cheapest tanks in melb I believe are at Mentone Aquarium, the rest is so so.

I think I need to do an aquarium crawl again soon.

Only problem with Mentone is that the health of their fish can be very so so. I've had more deaths buying fish from there, than anywhere else

best ive come across are:

First and Foremost - 1) Aquarium*Addicts - campbellfield (rare tanganikans, fantastic Tang*knowledge, 'above and beyond' service, and super nice)

2)Subscape Aquarium - (richmond) service is great. always a great range and willing to discount

3)Rayonne Aquarium - amount of tanks is fantastic!

4)TVS Aquatics -*(ferntree*gully) knowledge is second to none and a great range.

These are proly my main 4.

I also go to Coburg, and St Kilda, but they are a bit hot and cold.

Hmmmmm, I have to work out how to change that... i dont live in NSW, I live in VIC. Puckapunyal to be exact! (about an hour north from the cbd). But yeah my hobby (or addiction) sees me in the city every saturday just about looking for stuff for my tanks! :-)
