Hi guys,
was wondering if locking lips is a mating behaviour or something else?
Thanks guys

Most often jaw locking is a pre marital kind of thing,
kind of like for-play for cichlids

I've actually found it to be more commonly the alpha male and the 2nd male fighting it out for top spot in cichlids.
Joz is correct also, and if it is known to be a male/female then yes expect some breeding soon, but with colonies, it's usually the battle for top spot.

thanks for the replies guys!
theres only two and they both seem to either 'fight' or 'flirt' with each other and then its game on for the both of them against my blue rams! I do have a very dominant blue ram, interesting buggers none-the-less! ]
Cheers!
