Hey Everyone.

I need some help with a new 50 gallon\200 litre community aquarium. I have recently recieved a new aquarium for christmas\birthday (I'm 14). I would like to make it a community tank. I need some help with the types of fish I should have in it. I have had some experience with goldfish and guppies and I know all the cycling stuff, and P.H, ammonia, hardess and what not. Right now I have the tank set up and I am cycling it (fishless).

Anyways, does anyone have some suggestions of tropical fish that I could keep in it for a nice community tank. I have looked on some sites but most of them are American sites and I have no idea on the availabilty of the fish they suggested. The tank's measurements are 48" x 15" x 20". The tank has appropriate heating and filtration.

Thanks for all your help Everyone.

I like Angels, they're pretty cool. So anything that can go with Angels.

Hi Shaye

Welcome to the forum!

That's a good size tank you've set up there  . Give's you heaps of opportunitites, too.

Regarding recommendations for fish selection, where do we start? Everybody will have different favourites (such as african cichlids, sth american cichlids, rainbows, live bearers, SE asian fish, etc etc), so best to tell us what YOUR favourites are  (regardless of their availability in Australia) then we can comment on their compatibility and requirements. Also, some fish that may not be readily available at your LFS may be available elsewhere, and other forum members may be able to help in this regard.

Cheers.

I rekon some dwarf cichlids like bolivian butterflys and blue rams would be the go, small and fairly placid, aqnd very, very colourful.
