Welcome to the forum,
Hermit crabs are a little creepy at times. We have 100’s and it took a little bit of getting used to the noise they make. As they climb around they would fall into the terracotta bowls in their cages and it would sound just like cracking glass. Not the noise you want to here from your fish room.
We found keeping them very clean a must. Ours are on dry sand, some keep them on sawdust but it dampens down too quickly which isn’t good for the crabs long-term and starts to smell. Also keep a lit on your tank as the crabs need high humidity for their gills.
