my axolotle hasn't eaten in about 4 days now and a few minutes ago i noticed that he was shedding skin, at least i think it was skin, is this normal for an axolotle?

Never kept them before, but i heard this is completely normal. Is he fully submerged? or is there an area he can get onto land?

Very, very few axolotls can “evolve “into salamanders. And from what I read we do not have the line that is capable of doing this anyway.
What is the water temperature? Axy’s don’t like it much above 20 degrees C. They do best at around 15oC.
You may try and entice it to eat some live small feeder fish, live black worms or earth worms. Mine all eat these readily. I also feed them Orca sinking pellets.
Make sure your water is very clean.

- ok not sure how i did that but my first post is lost, just on the possibility of it evolving however as bettamuse pointed out this does not seem to be the case for australian axolotles, so disregard our comments on this!

i have looked after him for about 2 or 3 years nowand i just recently fed him and he is starting to get his appetite back so i guess (and this is a wild guess) that he loses his appetite when he's shedding his skin
