OK guys , heres a couple of pics of my new Aquarium / Vivarium set up, I purchased the tank as a bare tank with no top or inserts. I then added a latex back and made a glass tray for the "dry" area for the geckos above the water, made a solid timber cedar top and fly screen face to make it escape proof!
I'm using a 1800 Lt Ph internal filter that filters the water and supplies water to the waterfall, heating the water with a 55w heater at the moment but thats getting upgraded to a 100w heater next week, added substrate and plants and branches. now I'm contemplating my lighting requirements, and then i just need fish and geckos, tank was filled from my other tanks to hurry along the cycling process and i have added some sacrificial guppies to help also!
I'm hoping to stock the tank with tetras and the like for colour and flouro reflection on available light, and other suggestions will be appreciated.
hope you like it.

Hi GG, I'm gonna keep marble geckos, and was thinking of getting some red blue Columbian tetras , maybe some head and tail lights, neons or cardinals, that sort of thing something bright and reflective . any other suggestions?

Sounds awesome.
I had some Columbians for a long time, they were very hardy, so should be AOK. The other fish sound great too.

I guess the geckos are not too fussed about the water conditions, so that should open up the range of choices available to you. Are the geckos you mentioned aussie natives? ...If so, (..since you asked for suggestions.. ..) have you considered a native set up with rainbows, blueeyes and native plants in and out of the water? .

I have considered a native set up, as the geckos are native to Vic, BUT i have a planted 5 foot tank with rainbows already and my 3 footer is starting to look like a jungle as well,(finally!) with neons and guppies so i was thinking more colourful reflective types for this tank
i don't want too much plant life out of the water so as i can see the geckos and they aren't hiding all the time!
as previously mentioned lighting for the water plants concerns me so I'm gonna suck it and see!

News Flash.
Decided to get rid of all the small fish, well transplant them into my 3 footer! and buy a Archer fish or 2 as they are native and look like they will be amusing!

Looks great mate!! I've always wanted to do a setup like that, so you'll have to let us all know how it goes. Just a quick question though, wont the ghekos fall in the water?? if they're on the wall of the glass and fall off? Looks great anyways and keep us up to date with pics

Cheers,

Prowse
