After only recently getting into this and setting up a tank with a Bundy Rum theme I've become addicted

The Bundy theme had to go as the fish were trying to eat the coating on the Bundy Bears and I had a desire to get some cichlids happening so...

The 4ft tank has now become a cichlid tank with some fish that are surprisingly getting along really well  . After speaking with a few experts about this fish I wanted to keep and being told that as long as they all go into the tank together at the start there'll be no dramas I went ahead with -

1 Red Tiger Oscar
1 Albino Oscar
1 Orange Marbled Peacock (gorgeous fish BTW)
1 Marbled Peacock
2 Electric Yellows
2 Cobalt Blues

Great fish all of them, and all are quite happy to eat out of my hand and have been doing so since the first week of the tank

I also added a 2 foot aqua one tank for those the others
2 x Silver Sharks
1 x Sword Tail
1 x Gold Gourami
2 x Gold Suckers (???)
a couple of guppies and 5 neon tetras.

No idea what the plants are sorry.

I really struggle to get decent photos of any of my fish, it's almost as if they know what I'm doing and they pose for a second, then nick off as I take the pic! Here's the best I can do of the Orange Marbled Peacock, it doesn't do it justice though as it really is a beautiful fish.

hey Bundy,

thats great to hear you are getting into this addictive hobby!!! I started with one tank a year ago, and now have just over 20!!!! But I love it.

One word of advice, I dont know who you got your advice from, but you positively cannot keep electric yellows with Oscars. This is not a temperment thing (although im sure that could be a problem), its a water conditions thing!

Electric yellows are an AFRICAN fish, and they require very hard water and high pH. Oscars I believe require very SOFT water and low pH. Making these two types incompatible. They might survive for a while, but they will not thrive, and will not be at their best. What are you water parameters??? GH, KH, pH. Nitrates, Ammonia etc etc??

Hope this helps, just some friendly advice.
Emma.

Thanks Emma. I'll check all my parameters tonight. pH is about 7.4 - 7.6

All the fish seem pretty happy though

I get most of my general info from this guy
