Hey
Just thought id ask what i should be doing to keep my tropical tank at its best.
Currently i have been:
• checking the PH and keeping it between 7.5 and 8
• doing a 10L water change each week as well vacuuming the gravel.
(replacement water is brought close to temp and water conditioner added)
• Cleaning the filter sponge in removed tank water every 2-3 weeks.
Im just wondering if i should be checking/monitoring anything else?

Mac man,hi.
Just in case you may want to check ,but the Cardinals/Neons? generally prefer more acid-neutral ph,as opposed to the mollys.

From my reading that iv done so far it appeared neons like neutral but are fine up to low 8s and that mollys really like 8+ so i think i have chosen the best compromise point

I'm just thinking about their natural habitat, which is in the amazon.I know they will tolerate a ph of 8,but they are most comfortable at about 6-7.
Then I've seen mollys in marine tank conditions, though not for long http://www.thefishtank.com.au/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif

Yea i heard mollys can be eased into marine conditions and that they even like a bit of salt in the water but duno how that would go with the neons
