hi there

i was just wondering if lysofoss is helpful in cycling and maintining a tank?

the guy at the local store said that it would encourage bactreia growth and therefore speed up the cycling process of a tank?

i ended up buying some but am a little hesitant to use it now for some reason as the label on it says it reduces amonia - i thought this is what is needed to get things moving?

any help appreciated :)

Hi Dan
Sounds like you've got us there  .
I for one have not used lysofoss, in fact had until now not heard of it.
But given that it is not the next big thing everybody is raving about at the moment, I'd be wary of intoducing yet another chemical to counter other undesirable chemicals, such as amonia.
As mentioned on other postings in this forum, it appears that the general concensus is that cycling takes as long as it takes and unless you've got old (that is biologically loaded) substrate AND filter media plus some water from an established tank AND a pH of less than 7.0 your tank will need to go through the process.
Cheers

Would have to agree with GG on this one, i did a little research on this as i have never heard of this product , and it seems to be more suited to larger bodies of water(ponds dams and rivers) and the removal of decaying plant life.
I would be wary as GG says of adding anything to a tank thats not 100 % necessary. Patience is a virtue!
